LONDON, England (CMC):
JAMAICAN INTERNATIONAL Ricardo Fuller believes his two goals for Southampton on Saturday are vindication for the difficult time he has had at the club.
The 26-year old striker has never settled at St. Mary's after arriving from Portsmouth this season and was subsequently sent on loan to Ipswich. He only returned recently.
"I have never had justice here so I had nothing to lose," Fuller said after the Saints beat Cardiff 3-2.
"I just worked hard and proved yet again the Big Man Upstairs is not sleeping. I have nothing to say but everything to play for and all I want to do is play and work hard."
He added: "I have said before, I have endured a lot of stick and low confidence here but I am working harder to get fitter.
"I went away to Ipswich and worked really hard in the gym, twice a day. It went well for me there although I did not have much luck with officials."
SURGE
Fuller, recalled to the starting line-up for the game at home at St. Mary's after a loan spell at Ipswich, netted in the 70th and 75th minutes as the hosts surged ahead 3-1 in the second half, after the game was locked 1-1 from just after half-time.
The player is now looking to rescue what has been an otherwise miserable season where he spent most of his time on the bench.
"There was a lot of satisfaction from this game and it is a shame there are only five games left now," Fuller said.
"I still have a job to do here, to work hard and help the team stay up. As a professional, you have got to do what you have got to do and I have to blend in with the team and score some goals."
He added: "If I am on the pitch I have a chance of scoring, if I am not on the pitch then I won't score. The more I play, the better I get."
