G-FORCE IS HERE!
published: Thursday | April 6, 2006

Rosemary Parkinson, Contributor

I WAS given a bottle of G-Force Natural Roots Wine by Karlene Walters, J. Wray & Nephew's marketing consultant to taste. My only specific instructions were to first have a sip while the 'wine' was warm, then refrigerate until cool before drinking the rest. This exercise was really all about a taste-testing.

I took a 'substantial' sip, placed bottle into fridge and went to bed. What can I say? Turned on the computer and worked for about three hours. Hmmm? Early next morning, I picked up the points of sale given to find out what gave me all that energy. So here we go folks - the newest drink on the block.

G-Force is a cane wine liquid base that contains four potent ingredients - the one that caught my eye was Guarana. I know this Brazilian root. It was so much the rage in Europe in 1994, I thought by now this well-known natural aphrodisiac and stimulant would have been extinct! But here we have it, right here in Jamaica, to add to all those other tonic roots that our men seem to require on a daily basis!

Guarana, however, is not just for the men. These roots are purported to delay sleep and help endurance. Although touted for activities during sexual performance, it does slam energy into the body for other actions, such as what I required that night - work!

Extra ingredients include: ginger, ginseng and ginkgo biloba - the latter supposedly improves memory, concentration and reaction time, helping to reduce anxiety and stress - just what I need as age and overwork creep up! But there's more to G-Force - saraparilla extract, molasses, pimento and orange bitters.

It is available in four parishes - Kingston, St. Andrew, Clarendon and Manchester, it is due to be officially launched at Passa Passa on the last Wednesday of this month. All I have to say is when Master Blender Joy Spence puts her expertise into something, she knows exactly what to do!

May the G-Force be with you!
