SHOE MANUFACTURER, Reebok, is voluntarily recalling 300,000 children's bracelets which have been linked to a lead poisoning death in the United States.
Members of the public are being advised to take the heart-shaped charm bracelets from children and dispose of them.
According to a statement from lawyers Myers, Fletcher & Gordon who represent importers Steve Oakley and M'M, 108 of the heart-shaped charm bracelets are being recalled in Jamaica.
Reebok in the United States had received a report of a four-year-old girl from Minneapolis who died after swallowing one of the bracelets. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said: "The recalled jewellery contains high levels of lead, posing a risk of lead poisoning and adverse health effects to young children."
The eight-inch long metal bracelet has 'Reebok' engraved on one side. Manufactured in China since 2004, the product was given as a free gift together with the purchase of various styles of children's footwear.
