DR. ERROL Daley, consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist hails from Anchovy, St James, a small hamlet outside Montego Bay. He was last week honoured by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists at a banquet in Kingston.

In his tribute, Horace Fletcher, Professor and Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Child Health, University of the West Indies, lauded his colleague in many ways. Professor Fletcher said in part: " His focus, his determination, his confidence and drive to succeed were qualities that were evident from an early age. From these early days he developed values still with him today.

UNFLINCHING LOVE FOR FAMILY

His love for family is unflinchingly displayed to his mother, father and siblings and also to his wife and sons. He also displays great love for his extended family at Gynae Associates, where he practises."

He also said that Dr. Daley left Anchovy on a government scholarship to attend Cornwall College. At Cornwall he excelled in academics, but still found time to be school prefect, member of the stamp collecting club and drama society and president and member of the school choir.

He was also a champion at elocution winning many prizes in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission festival of arts. Having decided from early that he wanted to become a doctor, he entered the University of the West Indies on a government scholarship.

"Errol's focus on his medical studies was clouded when he met the lovely Gwendolyn Pamela Logan. He married the beautiful medical student in 1973," Professor Fletcher added.

"Errol was brilliant at UWI and broadened his horizons with an elective in obstetrics and gynaecology. He is a very well organised person and a deep thinker. He cannot see something out of place in his sphere of influence and leave it imperfect.

"He has started a new venture Gynae Associates Portmore and knowing Errol, I am sure that high standards will be expected and maintained.

"He is also known for his selflessness and willingness to serve others in various ways such as: consultant at Victoria Jubilee Hospital, board member at KPH, regional representative COG, president of the Grabham Society and more."
