YOPLAIT: Contributing to a healthy way of life
published: Monday | April 10, 2006

Yoplait presented a cheque to the Jamaica Cancer Society representing donations from sales of Yoplait Yogurt during October and November 2005. From left: Jo-Ann Causwell, refrigerated unit manager, Wisynco Group; Marva Lee, administrative director, Jamaica Cancer Society; Michael Leslie, accounting officer, Jamaica Cancer Society and Kim Mair, administrative officer, Jamaica Cancer Society.

AS IS consistent globally, Yoplait yoghurt is actively involved in monetary contributions that provide tremendous health benefits. It is no different here in Jamaica.

Through the motto that has gained international recognition "Save Lids to Save Lives", with the catch phrase "Every lid brings us closer to a cure", Yoplait and its locally distributor Wisynco Group Ltd., through the commitment to that motto, embarked on a programme which will see them donating $6.00 for every lid of yoghurt bought with the "Save Lids to Save Lives", motto, to the Jamaican Cancer Society. This is to assist specifically in the area of breast cancer. The sum, in excess of $200,000, was raised by the campaign during October and November of 2005 in a drive scheduled to coincide with Breast Cancer Month which is recognised in October annually.

CONTINUED COMMITMENT

Yoplait wishes to reiterate its continued commitment to the cause, a commitment which has spanned eighteen years. Yoplait, its parent company General Mills and its foundation, will have donated over US$15.5 million to the breast cancer cause over eight years. Y

Yoplait also wishes to commend the Jamaican Cancer Society for their continued efforts in pursuing awareness in the area of breast cancer.
