THE EDITOR, Sir:
AS A graduate of the UWI, I read in shock and dismay the events which took place on the campus in The Gleaner. It would seem that those who are supposed to be the intellectual leaders of the society are no better than the mob.
How can we condemn the mob who runs down the thief or murderer in an attempt to get its own brand of justice when the supposed future leaders of our Caribbean countries take part in basically the same activity at a place of higher learning?
Is it that even the UWI students have no idea of what is right and wrong? Just because you do not believe in what someone does or considers to be wrong does not give you the right to do them bodily harm.
Imagine that even after the incident students were on the news behaving as though they had done no wrong especially in firing missiles at the police who had to be in riot gear to stop the mob.
I pose this question to those students: What example are you presenting to the rest of society? Is it one that you would be proud of ?
I am, etc.,
