Great prizes for Shipping Industry Golf Tournament

FABULOUS TROPHIES and numerous attractive prizes are being offered to amateur golfers who will be top performers at the first renewal of the Shipping Industry Benefit Golf Tournament to take place at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club on Saturday, April 22. The event begins with a Shotgun Start at 8:00 a.m. and golfers are to be on their tees at 7:50 a.m. to ensure that play will be completed by noon.

The beneficiary of this year's tournament will be the Marcus Garvey Basic School, located in Greenwich Town. The tournament will be played as an 18-hole Stableford 7/8 Handicap event in five categories - Overall, Ladies, Male Handicap 0-7, Male Handicap 8-15, and Male Handicap 16-24.

Participants can look forward to great tee gifts, including designer golf shirts, golf-shoe bags and caps, as well as trophies and attractive prizes for 'Nearest to the Pin' and Men/Ladies 'Longest Drive'. A highlight of the tournament is the 'Hole-In-One' prize of a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo, courtesy of GM Challenger, that will be offered on the scenic 10th Hole. Other prizes include DVD players, golf equipment, cellular phones, gift baskets, gourmet meals from top hotels and restaurants, choice wines, spa treatments and a weekend for two at the Half Moon Hotel. There is an entry fee of $3,500 that includes lunch.

To ensure an early start, the first 50 golfers to collect their cards on the morning of the tournament, will receive a free package of bun and cheese.
