PORTMORE UNITED were held to a 1-1 draw by Rivoli United in their Wray and Nephew National Premier League game on Sunday at Spanish Town Prison Oval.
Marlon Allen gave Rivoli the lead in the 27th minute with a beautiful long range shot that went right through the hands of goalkeeper Sheldon Brown and into the back of the net.
Portmore dominated the rest of the half and should have equalized on the stroke of half-time when Kemeel Wolfe was set up by teammate Dave Clarke courtesy of a free-kick. However, his close range header went straight into the hands of goalkeeper Sean Sutherland.
The second half was dominated by Portmore and they duly found the equalizer in the 81st minute courtesy of a header from Craig Morrison.
They should have scored again but poor finishing from the likes of O'Neil McDonald, Ricardo Cousins and Wolfe let them down.
Coach of the Portmore team, Paul Young, was very disappointed after the game.
He said: "We missed a number of chances that we should have put away, and playing against a relegated team we expect nothing but victory. But it didn't happen and that's just football."
On the other hand the coach of Rivoli, Fitz Coleman, was happy for his team's result.
"I am glad for the result because normally playing a high quality team like Portmore if you don't come prepared you will pick up five to six-love but we held them to a draw and I am happy for that."
