ST. JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC):
TRINIDAD AND Tobago (T&T) started their defence of their CLICO West Indies Under-15 title in winning style when they scored a comprehensive 81-run victory over the Windward Islands yesterday.
T&T were joined by Jamaica and Guyana in winners' row, as they beat the Leeward Islands and Barbados respectively.
At the Antigua Recreation Ground: Jamaica, batting first after winning the toss, chalked up 203 all out off 48.5 overs to beat the Leewards by 21 runs.
Andre Creary topscored with 40, Kennar Lewis hit 29 and Courntey Allen, 28 while Nelson Bolan grabbed two for 22 and Sridath Rey, two for 23.
In reply, the Leewards fell for 182 in 47.3 overs with Kelbert Walters hitting an unbeaten 40 and Kejel Tyson, 36.
Creary was the best bowler with three for 25 while Mackroy Ewart finished with three for 27.
At the All Saints Ground: T&T scored 214 for seven from their 50 overs, after losing the toss and being sent in to bat.
Nicholas Alexis topscored with 60, Yannick Carriah hit 32 while Qadir Shah got 31, as Dalton Polius grabbed four for 31.
In reply, the Windwards could only manage 133 all out in 29.5 overs, with Deron Laviar striking 37.
Javed Boodram finished with two for 15 and Carriah, two for 16.
In the Barbados innings, Dario Cummins got 54 while Royston Atkins hit 46 in the T&T innings.
At Liberta: Guyana scored an easy six-wicket win over Barbados after reducing them to 147 for nine off 50 overs and then responding strongly with 148 for four in 35.4 overs.
Round two continues today with Guyana against the Windwards at the ARG, the Leewards clashing with Barbados at All Saints and T&T opposing Jamaica at Liberta.
