Boys' Town to go hard at Spring

FOLLOWING THEIR disposal of Harbour View on Sunday and in the process handing the Wray and Nephew National Premier League title to Waterhouse, promoted Boys' Town will this afternoon seek to dish out similar treatment to one of the lesser lights, Constant Spring, in a rescheduled game.

Today's encounter takes place at 3:30p.m. at Collie Smith Drive.

There appears not to be too much in the game with Constant Spring already relegated and Boys' Town already securing a place in the top eight, which guarantees them a place in the knockout competition which follows the league.

According to Andrew Price of Boys' Town, his team will honour fixtures to the best of their ability but they want to do more than just that.

"We want to get as many points as possible and we also intend to keep ourselves sharp for the knockout competition which begins soon," Price said of the approach they will be taking to today's game.

"We will basically start the same team even though there are some fringe players that we want to see and that we will probably be introducing at some point in the game," he added.

For Constant Spring coach Maurice 'Danny' Lyn, the game is only a matter of academic interest and honouring the fixtures.

"It makes no difference whether we field a weak or a strong team because win, lose or draw we are already relegated. What we are sure about though is that we will honour the fixtures," said Lyn.

Besides Walter Boyd, who only recently returned to the team, Constant Spring fielded a team minus household names and struggled throughout the season. With their fate already decided, some of the senior players could decide to stay away which could see the game raining goals, especially with the match taking place at Boys' Town's home ground.

If it is a weak Constant Spring which shows up then the likes of George Vernal and Denzil Watson will have a field day for Boys' Town. Not even the absence of the emerging midfielder Oneil Thompson should upset Boys' Town.

"We are just a bit upset right now that the season is ending so quickly because we are playing our best football at the moment," Price said of his team's performance for the season.

In a game brought forward, Portmore United, which has engagements abroad, will take on Seba United at Ferdie Neita Park at 3:30p.m. tomorrow.
