THE BOYS' Town Red Brigade added insult to Constant Spring's injury of being relegated from the Wray and Nephew National Premier League, when they thrashed them 8-3 at the Collie Smith Drive sports ground yesterday.

Hat-tricks by Denzil Watson and George Vernal ensured that Constant Spring, who have just one fixture left this season in top flight football, fell to their largest margin of defeat for the season.

But things did not start all that badly for Constant Spring. In fact, they had found themselves with the early lead courtesy of a fourth minute strike from veteran striker Walter Boyd.

However, after Boys' Town had all the possession and the way that Constant Spring continually soaked up pressure, things were always bound to unravel and in a hurry.

Denzil Watson got the ball rolling in the 22nd minute when he ran on to a Michael Campbell through ball, gathered himself and then struck the ball firmly past a fully stretched Constant Spring custodian Kirk Williams.

Boys' Town would add another six minutes later when Fabian Watkins scored from the penalty spot after Oneil Thompson had been brought down in the area. The diminutive Michael Campbell would drift into the box to elude two defenders and Williams, before stroking the ball into the back of the net for another goal in the 34th.

A minute afterwards, Vernal drifted inside and crashed a thunderous shot which had come back off the post, which found the back of the net in the 55th minute.

Given too much space at the edge of the 18 yard box four minutes later, Vernal once again looked up to fire a thunderbolt to the right of Williams.

Vernal completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute when he drifted in to fire with plenty of pace past Williams.

Watson then closed the scoring for Boys' Town with goals in the 75th and 84th minutes. Akeen Thenstead and Akeeli Martin had quick consolation goals for Constant Spring in the 78th and 79th minutes.

"I think we played in patches, we weren't disciplined throughout the game, if we had we could have won by a wider margin," said Andrew Price, Boys' Town's technical director.

Constant Spring's coach, Maurice "Danny" Lyn, said: "The performance today was without pride and ambition. The team is already better than us but play with some pride, that's what I asked them to do."

The competition continues today with Portmore United hosting Seba in a rescheduled match at 3:30 p.m. at Ferdia Neita Park.
