URBAN KNIGHTS kept pace with the league-leading Denham Town Wizards by clipping Blazing Panthers 73-71 as KFC/bmobile National Basket-ball League (NBL) action continued on Tuesday at the National Stadium Courts.
Knights, who found themselves tied with Wizards for the best record in the league up to four games ago, now find themselves trailing Wizards at 11-2.
Wizards trounced the Port-more Flames 99 on Monday to improve their record to 13-1. Lancelot Grandison with 25 points and five rebounds led the way for Urban Knights, who, while not able to pull away from a determined Blazing Panthers team, led nearly the entire way. Lynford Brown had 28 points and three rebounds in losing effort for the Panthers, who find themselves in 10th place with a 4-9 record.
Meanwhile, Harbour View Lakers registered only their fourth win of the season when they narrowly got by Runnin' Rebels 71-69. Wins have been hard to come for the Lakers who were a play-off team last year, but now have a horrendous 4-10 record so far this season.
ON THE WRONG SIDE
The last time they encountered the Rebels they were on the wrong side of a 30-point thrashing. This time around 13 points each from Troy Constantine and Paron Brown was not enough to ensure that the same thing happened twice. On the heels of a two-game skid, Runnin Rebels find themselves at .500 with 5-10 record.
Randy Smart had 15 points and three rebounds, while Nicholas Bogle had 12 points and nine rebounds in the Harbour View victory.
In Monday's other game, St. Georges Slayers got the better of Link Up-All Stars with a 58-54 victory.
