Ocean Spray Jamaica Wellfest to shine
published: Saturday | April 22, 2006

Abijah

THE STARS will come out each night at the Ocean Spray Jamaica Wellfest 2006 - the region's most wide-ranging wellness festival, which will begin in Kingston next weekend.

Abijah will be there; so, too, will Myrna Hague and The Desi Jones Trio, Dwight Richards, Cherry Natural, Rosina, Peter Ashbourne and Friends, David Madden, Everton Gayle, Alanna Leslie, Neila Ebanks, Shawn Richards and Verneta Fort, as well as a number of the Ocean Spray bands which performed to rave reviews early this year on the small stage at the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in Montego Bay.

Three concerts have been planned for the duration of the Ocean Spray Jamaica Wellfest 2006. The first will follow the official opening ceremony on Friday, April 28 at 6:00 p.m. in Emancipation Park. Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will declare the festival officially opened, while Kingston's Mayor Desmond McKenzie will welcome patrons. Myrna Hague and The Desi Jones Trio, along with Dwight Richards, Everton Gayle, David Madden and Alanna Leslie, are expected to perform that night.

The Saturday night concert will feature Cherry Natural, Neila Ebanks, Shawn Richard and Verneta Fort and two popular Ocean Spray bands.

The closing concert on Sunday will feature Abijah, Rosina Moder, Peter Ashbourne & Friends. Negotiations are also continuing with one of the island's hottest star - who has been gaining international fame in recent times - to headline that night's closing event.
