IMAGINE A waiter walking up to your table with a machine to process your credit card payment in his hand.
This scenario is about to become a reality in Jamaica, as the National Commercial Bank (NCB) recently announced that wireless payment terminals, with the ability to process credit, prepaid and debit card payments, will now be available to its merchants. The project is currently being tested at Domino's Pizza, Cuddyz Sports Bar, TGI Friday's and DHL. However, NCB is planning to make the units available for all their merchants by May.
Said NCB's assistant general manager of the eBusiness and Merchant Services (eBMS) Division, "eBMS continues to demonstrate why we have become the leader in providing debit and credit card solutions. Merchants appreciate our willing-ness to innovate, our dedication to their needs and our ever-expanding suite of services."
ACCEPTS MAJOR CREDIT CARDS
The compact, high-speed device offers fast, secure, mobile point-of-sale transaction functionality and uses a cellular signal to transmit information and has an integrated thermal printer for easy receipt delivery and operation. The device is not only very reliable, but has also met the highest security standards, and accepts all major credit cards, including Keycard, Visa, MasterCard and Discover, as well as NCB debit cards.
It offers a number of advantages for business, including the fact that businesses which accept cash through their route sales distributors or couriers will be able to equip their employees with this device which will allow them to accept their payments, without the risk of cash. It also opens up the possibilities for businesses to be able to accept card payments at locations that do not have phone lines or electricity, for instance, trade shows or outdoor venues.
"We are constantly looking for ways to help our merchants build their profits and allow them to delight their customers, and the introduction of the wireless payment device is one of an integrated solution. We have started to introduce it to our clients and they are just as excited as we are about the advantages that it will bring to their businesses." Ms Stephens said.
