Paul-Andre Walker, Staff Reporter

THE TORNADOS Swim Club's 15-member squad returned to the island yesterday boasting 17 medals from the Stingrays 2006 long course 'eye opener' swim meet in Winter Haven, Florida.

The meet, held on the weekend, saw the Jamaicans bagging five gold, four silver and eight bronze medals.

The most impressive performance came from Dominic Walter, who was second in the high points category, notching 55 valuable points in the 13-14 age group.

Among those 55 points, Walter mined gold in the 200-metre butterfly, was second behind teammate Stefan Brown in the 100m butterfly, hit the wall first in the 400m freestyle and was third in the 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley.

In the 200-metre butterfly, Walter clocked two minutes 36.90 seconds, while he stopped the clock in the 400-metre freestyle in 4:35.38 minutes to outdo Richard Graham of Jamaica.
