Chill out, Mr Mayor
published: Friday | April 28, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

HIS WORSHIP the Mayor of Kingston, Desmond McKenzie, has been upfront and very personal about towing away police or other illegally parked government vehicles in and around Kingston.

Let me say to the mayor, be very careful. Things will come back to haunt him if he continually tries to hassle the police or mess with the Government of which he is part and parcel.

The mayor has other things to do that will help the people in Kingston that are much more important than to be walking 'tall' around the streets of Kingston towing away govern-ment/police vehicles. The mayor has no power of arrest, he is not a law enforcement officer, so again he better be careful.

Look around along Washington Boulevard and Trafalgar Road. The streets need marking. You can't see which lane to drive in at nights. Garages are all over Eastwood Park. The whole Corporate Area which is under his jurisdiction needs a makeover, but he is fooling around the police and illegal parking.

Mayor, chill out. You already have a full plate. You're doing a good job, but don't overreact.

I am, etc.,

CASWELL H. ISAACS
