Kingfish boss in UK to complete course
published: Friday | April 28, 2006

HINDS

HEAD OF the intelligence arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and Internal Security, Assistant Commissioner Glenmore Hinds, left the island last Saturday for the United Kingdom, where he will complete a course designed for police commissioners. ACP Hinds is also responsible for the daily operations of Operation Kingfish.

The four-month course will focus on international strategic leadership. It is a similar course which Deputy Commissioner Charles Scarlet and Assistant Commissioner Novelette Grant did several years ago.

"This is a course that is designed for the Chief Constables in the British Police Force," said Mr. Hinds, who got enlisted in the JCF 31 years ago.

The bespectacled officer, who got his childhood education at Oberlin High School in West Rural St. Andrew, hopes to improve his knowledge of strategic management to enhance the capability of the JCF.

Reports are that the former University of Technology (UTech) student was nominated by Police Commissioner Lucius Thomas and was selected by the Police Staff College in London.

In his absence, Acting Assistant Commissioner Denver Frater will oversee the day-to-day running of Operation Kingfish, while Superintendent Hector Lewis will be in charge of Special Branch and Internal Security.
