Letter of the day - Keep pastors free of political alignment
THE EDITOR, Sir: A REV. Byron G. Malcolm wants to know what's with that little country down there. His disrespect touts the political correctness of the so-called separation of church and state.
Kudos to Mayor McKenzie
THE EDITOR, Sir: PLEASE ALLOW me to respond to a letter from a Mr. Caswell Isaacs, advising the Mayor of Kingston to "chill out", referring to the local government's clampdown on illegal parking by the police.
What is the Church doing?
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE WORLD (unsaved) laughs, mocks and jeers at the idiosyncrasies of the Church in its quest to stop the legalisation of homosexual behaviour in Jamaica. The question is often asked: What is the church doing?
New PM - a good idea
THE EDITOR, Sir: CONGRATS TO the clever Jamaicans who have elected Mrs. Simpson Miller as the new president of the PNP and subsequently the new Prime Minister of Jamaica. I believe it is the best thing that has happened since Independence.
Basis for ethics
THE EDITOR, Sir: ONE OF the popular lies that has been spread by theologians is that without belief in God, there is no basis for ethics. This was recently asserted by a number of men of the cloth on a T.V. programme hosted by Mr. Ian Boyne.
A game of Russian roulette
THE EDITOR, Sir: My initial instinct was to simply ignore Rico Moon's letter of April 28, titled "PROSTITUTION: another view" in which he inquires about my planetary origin, and generously gives me a $20-coin so that I may "buy myself a clue."
Disappointed with Hyacinth Bennett
THE EDITOR, Sir: It was very surprising to see Mrs. Hyancinth Bennett giving the main speech at the Jamaica Labour Party's Area One conference in Kingston on April 9, 2006.
Why not leave bad UK?
THE EDITOR, Sir: I have just read a letter titled, "Teaching in the UK" dated April 29. It never ceases to amaze me, seeing the words of wisdom from Jamaicans living in the U.K.
