Shanae shows off her purple wardrobe. Not to mention the purple accessories. Even her stationery are purple.

HOW MANY times have we seen a friend, family member or just a fellow acquaintance with a strong attachment or passion for something? Sometimes we find it puzzling as to how and why they have such affection.
Well, if you're still pondering over what I'm talking about, then maybe you're yet to meet someone who has an obsession.
Obsession is defined as having a constant focus of energy on something or someone; in essence, it becomes the dominating thought of one's mind. An obsession, believe it or not, can either be unhealthy and destructive to one's life as well as it can be fun once it is moderate.
Outlook Youth, over the next couple of weeks will be talking to persons who are very passionate or who have some strange obsessions. We want to see what drives these passions. Take Shanae Flanigan for example.
Shanae Giselle Flanigan, 19-year-old university student, has an obsession not with shoes, shopping, or chick flicks, but the colour purple.
OY: What is your obsession?
Shanae: I am highly fascinated with the colour purple.
OY: When did you realise that you had this passion?
Shanae: I guess it was around second or third form.
OY: So is there any reason for your developing the affection at the time?
Shanae: Well, at that time the spacemaker pencil cases came in and I just loved the purple version, and I guess since then I just wanted everything in purple.
OY: Has this obsession affected you in any way?
Shanae: I guess both positively and negatively; like I would get something because it's purple whether it's useful or not to me.
OY: Does it affect anyone close to you?
Shanae: Well it annoys my dad and some of my friends because they think it's unhealthy.
OY: Would you change anything about being obsessed with purple?
Shanae: I don't know because I just love it!
