Gertrude feeds husband Lincoln a piece of cake at their 29th wedding anniversary celebration on Easter Sunday.
EASTER SUNDAY was no ordinary Sunday for Lincoln and Gertrude Whittock as on that day they both celebrated 29 years of wedded bliss.
So, together with several of their relatives and friends, they celebrated this milestone.
The happy occasion was marked at their Sheridan Drive, Fairbanks Park home in Mandeville and the festivities kicked off at 1:00 p.m.
NOT-SO-SURPRISE PARTY
Friends and relatives, along with co-workers from Jamalco and some lodge brethren, joined Lincoln in the surprise wedding anniversary party for his wife.
She had wanted to wait for the 30th year of marriage but he could not.
But not good at keeping surprises and with a wife whose job is planning such events, Lincoln could not keep the secret for too long and Gertrude was brought in on the planning.
Caterers were Patsy Bait and Company and the menu included curried goat and mannish water, baked chicken, jerk chicken, jerk pork, stew pork, roast pork and red peas rice and peas and corn bread.
Master of Ceremonies was Patrick Whittock, brother to Lincoln; prayers were said by Christopher Givens, nephew of Gertrude, while Alga Richard, sister of Gertrude, blessed the cake.
Guests included Patrick Whittock and family; Rae Nelson; sisters of Gertrude, Echidna Green; Entrain Richard's; Mauves Blare and family; Lignite Givens; Alga Richards and family; Albert and his children.
FRIENDS
Friends included Herman Williams, Carl Sutton and his wife, Paul Frazier, Mike Abbey and wife, Babe Babatuma, Debbie Adedipe, Earl Wright and his wife from New York, Edward Virgo and his wife, Norman Young and friends from Kingston, Pamela Davis, Primrose Sway, and Paulette Sutherland, Yvonne McLeod-Myrie, guidance counsellor, and a host of other friends and relatives.
Music of yesteryear was supplied by Roan Hay, an engineer of Alpart, and everyone partied late into the night.
