A cry from Freeman's Hall
published: Monday | May 1, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

A REMOTE district called Freemans Hall in Trelawny has always had bad but passable roads. Hurricane Ivan, however, destroyes it in two places, preventing access is both directions.

As a result, my agricultural property which was formerly productive, is now unproductive. The resumption of farming depends on the repairing of the road and it seems unfair that farmers in the area should be denied the opportunity to put the land to productive use and at the same time carry the burden of high taxes.

The Member of Parliament for the area has been informed of the resulting problems, but so far there has been no attempt to repair the road. As a matter of fact, I called his office last week again and the response given is that the matter has been reported several times and that I should call the National Works Agency.

The residents of Freemans Hall are crying out. Will someone please help?

I am, etc.,

T. ROSE WALCOTT
