Applications open for Hubert Humphrey Fellowship

JAMAICAN PROFESSIONALS are being invited to apply for the Hubert H. Humphrey all-expenses one-year fellowship, to be taken at an American university.

The U.S. Embassy will be nominating applicants based on their potential for national leadership.

Applicants should have been working in their profession for at least five years and be between 35 and 45 years old. They should also be focused on policy rather than research.

ELIGIBILITY

Generally awarded to persons committed to public service, past fellows have come from the fields of communication/journalism, natural resources and environmental management, public policy analysis and public administration, economic development, agricultural development or agricultural economics, finance and banking, human resource management, law and human rights, trafficking in persons, urban and regional planning, HIV/AIDS policy and prevention, public health policy and management (including drug addiction, treatment and prevention), technology policy and management, and educational planning and administration.

Application forms are available from the U.S. Embassy Office of Public Affairs, First Floor, NCB Towers (South Tower), 2 Oxford Road, Kingston 5. Deadline for applications is Friday, July 21, 2006.
