NATIONAL COMMERCIAL Bank will spend $5.5 million to ensure that the Reggae Boyz have a good outing against England on June 3 and avoid the same debacle they encountered the last time they played in England against Australia.
The announcement came yesterday during a press conference at the offices of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) on St. Lucia Crescent, where a 30-man training squad and the completion of the sales agreement for land connected with FIFA's goal project in Malvern, St. Elizabeth was also announced by the organisation.
That 30-man squad is to be cut to 22 if Jamaica is able to procure a May 29 game against Ghana, but the squad could be smaller if those plans fall through.
The squad in training will feature 16 overseas-based players, with eight coming from England, six from the United States and two from Sweden, along with 14 local-based players.
JFF president Crenston Boxhill lauded the move by the financial giants that enabled the team to hold a camp in England between May 25 and 28.
Boxhill also pointed to a continuation of partnerships of similar nature before announcing that the Honourable Dr. James Chambers (Jimmy Cliff) had agreed to sing the national anthem in front of an expected 68,000-strong Old Trafford crowd.
