THE ELECTRONIC voter identification system, piloted three years ago, is to be used in 18 constituencies at the next Local Government elections, says Director of Elections Danville Walker.
Mr. Walker said yesterday that the system would be used in all garrison
communities because of the problems usually associated with such constituencies.
"It is a good system. It is a system that I believe we need to use in Jamaica," he said during the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) Area Council One monthly meeting at the Olympic Gardens Community Centre in Kingston.
Mr. Walker, however, pointed out that the country has to be prepared to put the necessary funds in place to properly implement the system.
