Lula disappointed with Morales
published: Thursday | May 11, 2006

( L - R ) LULA and MORALES

BRASILIA, BRAZIL (AP):

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expressed his disappointment to Bolivian President Evo Morales over the abrupt way Bolivia has nationalised its natural gas sector, Brazil's foreign minister said.

Foreign Minister Celso Amorim said on Tuesday the complaint was registered privately with Morales during a hastily-organised presidential conference on the nationalisation last week in Argentina - also attended by Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and Argentina's Nestor Kirchner.

Brazil, he said, chose to act quietly to avoid 'a radicalisation' by the Bolivian Government.
