THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM not an economist and therefore am not at liberty to speak much on economic matters.
In the editorial of Sunday, May 14, we see where the Honourable Dr Omar Davies is seeking the right to use public resources in any manner he sees fit.
History will recount the said gentleman a few years ago bragging on national tele-vision that he deliberately overspent during the last general election.
'It was an election year, so a couldn't stop de progress'. These were his exact words.
What the Finance Minister was saying then was that he had the right to do what he so desired with taxpayers' hard-earned money.
So now I am sort of confused, is he asking for a law to be passed to have him do this legally?
This in itself would raise another question in my mind; if his actions then were illegal, why was he not hauled before a disciplinary panel of some sort and charged?
Omar, along with the new Prime Minister, must come forward and tell us not how they are going to make more money; rather they must tell us how they plan to stop the wanton and arbitrary waste of public resources.
I am, etc.,
