Unity in corruption and confusion
published: Wednesday | May 17, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

PEOPLE IN religious life, including the clergy, sometimes have a misconception of what unity is all about, in terms of the Gospel and the Early Church. Jesus' disciples were unified only when they rid themselves of corruption, and jockeying for positions. May I inform you that corruption was dealt with instantly in the case of Ananias and Sapphira.

They were struck with death consecutively but they were not murdered, for the disciples had never resorted to murder.

It is time for the churches to unload infantile theology and a time to embrace a more perfect form of hermeneutics. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." - Hebrews 13:8. The same rules of probity and righteousness that applied to the Early Church are also applicable to the Latter Church without favouritism and compromise. Therefore, what the churches need to do is to start a reformation of true godliness in their midst without respect to persons.

I am, etc.,
