England, Reggae Boyz friendly int'l sold out
published: Thursday | May 18, 2006

LONDON (CMC):

THE FRIENDLY international between Jamaica's Reggae Boyz and England early next month has been sold out and Caribbean fans are trying to get a bigger allocation for seats, the Voice newspaper reported this week.

Thousand of fans are reported to be struggling to find tickets for the big June 3 fixture at Old Trafford.

The Voice reports that only "9,000 tickets have been allocated to Jamaica for the eagerly awaited international friendly," and many fans who wanted to sit at the Reggae Boyz end of the ground have been left "scratching around for tickets".

"We need another 20,000 tickets for that game. All the tickets are sold out," said Sted Wallen, chairman of the Jamaica Football Supporters Club in Europe.

Wallen has been told that there may be the possibility that Jamaica could be allocated more tickets, but an FA spokesperson told the Voice that sport tickets had sold out.

"Based on the number of calls we have had, with people calling from all over the country and outside the U.K. we could do with at least 20,000 more tickets," Wallen told the Voice.

"People from all over are calling up to get tickets. Some want 40, some want 50 and in the end we had to lower the limit of four per person to two per person.

"Everything was gone within two days. People are disgusted and disgruntled about the lack of tickets available," Wallen added.

England are using the game as part of their preparation for the World Cup Finals in Germany next month.

Jamaica will also play Ghana, World Cup qualifiers as well, in a friendly on May 29 at Leicester City's Walker Stadium.
