DEPUTY DIRECTOR for US Sales at the Jamaica Tourist Board, Donnie Dawson, is slated to act as Director of Tourism for two months with effect from June 1, The Gleaner/Power 106 news has learned.
It is understood that the decision was made during a meeting of the JTB Board Wednesday and that staff were informed of the decision yesterday.
APPOINTMENT
Mr. Dawson was appointed to the Miami office of the JTB last October, following the restructuring of the agency and its locations.
Before moving to Miami, Mr. Dawson had worked in the JTB office in California since 1982. The decision to appoint Mr. Dawson follows the planned departure, at the end of this month, of Tourism Director Paul Pennicook who opted not to renew his three-year contract with the JTB.
Mr. Pennicook will serve as senior vice-president for sales and marketing at Air Jamaica as of June 1.
