ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER of Police Leslie Green said the nation had seen an increase in public cooperation in solving crimes.
ACP Green was speaking at the monthly Crime Phone-In Programme, hosted by the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica and the Jamaica Constabulary Force on Thursday.
BOOST
"There has been a boost where members of the public talk to and share intelligence with members of the security forces about criminal activities in and around their communities," he said.
ACP Green, who was recently seconded from the United Kingdom's Scotland Yard, attributed the positive development to Operation Kingfish and its focus on police accountability and efficiency.
INFORMATION
"If the public views the police force as responsible in the context of law and order, this will enhance its confidence to work with the police," he stressed.
During the phone-in session, ACP Green said there were enquiries from victims about updates on investigations into their cases and the exchange of valuable information from persons in violence-prone communities.
