New Green are in second position on 18 points, two more than Downs who must win to keep alive their chance in a tussle that involves Porus (16 points) and Harmons (14).
However, New Green are basically assured of a semi-final place as they will be the beneficiary of three points courtesy of Gold Stars' withdrawal from the competition. Gold Stars' pull out means they will be the lone casualty of relegation.
Third-placed Porus should collect a further three points this weekend as they were scheduled to face Gold Stars. In fact, Porus have emerged as a darkhorse for the eventual champions trophy, after creating a huge upset in a 2-1 win over Hillstars at Cobbla in last week's round. Hillstars, the mid-season winners, however are confirmed as the league winners as their 27 points cannot be caught.
The real champions of the Major League however, will only be determined after the knock-out semi-final round.
