ATLANTA, GEORGIA
WITH AN initial investment of just over US$1 million, Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill based in Bronx, New York will open three of four locations in Atlanta, Georgia on May 2 and 3 and plans to open another 10 restaurants within the next five years.
President and CEO of the Jamaican-owned Golden Krust, Mr. Lowell Hawthorne, in an interview said that Atlanta is the city where Caribbean and Jamaican nationals are now moving to in droves.
"The trend of the restaurant business is growing in Atlanta, and it is now time that Golden Krust capitalise on this market and bring the Jamaican cuisine to both the Caribbean and American communities in Atlanta, as this is a great market."
Mr. Hawthorne said that Golden Krust will bring to Atlanta a concept that is a Caribbean theme with a strong Jamaican emphasis - authentic jerk chicken and nine varieties of patties.
The Golden Krust CEO said that the stores are located at Peachtree Centre in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Candler Road in Decatur, Hairston Road in Stone Mountain, and the fourth store will be on Rockbridge Road in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
AMBASSADOR TO VISIT
Jamaica's Ambassador to the United States, Gordon Shirley, who will make his first visit to Atlanta as Ambassador will deliver the keynote address and cut the ribbon signaling the official opening of the Peach Tree Centre store on June 2 at 2:00 p.m. Jamaica's honorary consul to Atlanta, Vin Martin, President of the Atlanta Jamaican Associa-tion, Allan Alberga and David Constantine who will represent Mayor Shirley Franklin, as well as other officials, will participate in the ceremony.
On Saturday, June 3, the other two stores will also be officially opened by Jamaica's honorary consul to Atlanta, Vin Martin. The fourth store on Rockbridge Road will open in mid-June.
