Torrington seal Western Union title

TORRINGTON PARK A on Saturday captured the Western Union division B crown after beating Skibo A 37-36 in extra-time at the Leila Robinson Courts.

Both teams played to a 29-29 score at the end of regulation time. It was Skibo A that ended the first round winning that segment 7-6. At half-time, both were locked 14-14, but Torrington Park A stole in front at the end of the third quarter with a 23-20 score.

For Torrington Park A, goal shooter Tashika Tinker scored 24 goals from 31 attempts and Janice Renalls supported well with 13 from 18. For the losers, Julie Ann Grant scored 31 goals from 41 attempts, while Tanesha Porter shot five goals from nine tries.

Also on Saturday, Speg B beat Waulgrovians B 34-21 to book their place in this weekend's Supreme Ventures division C final against Molynes United B.

A number of matches were played yesterday. Ravens defeated Ebony Strikers A 32-26 to book a Supreme Ventures division A final ticket against Molynes United A. Corelette McDonald was Ravens' best shooter with 31 goals from 37 attempts, while Lorraine Lewis hit 19 from 29 for the losers.

Ebony will now play Alexander Strikers' in Wednesday's third play-off. Also on Wednesday is the division C third-place play-off which features Police C playing Friendship. The games begin at 4:00 p.m.

Come Thursday, though, the pace intensifies at the Leila Robinson Courts as the Berger Paints Senior League takes centerstage.

The number one seed and defending champions Jamalco play Arnett Gardens in one of four quarter-final games. Many-time champions Waulgrovians, who finished second to Jamalco, play Police A, Tivoli A face-off with Alpha A, while Tivoli B takes on Windalco. All matches start at 6:00 p.m.
