A FAMILY attending the funeral service of a relative slain a month ago, was traumatised even further yesterday when a younger brother of the deceased was murdered by gunmen as the service was being held at the Church of God Seventh-day Church on Harvey Road, off Waltham Park Road, Kingston 13.
The dead man is 17-year-old Romando McLeod of a Maverley address in St. Andrew. He was attending the funeral of service of his brother, George Cain, who was killed by the police on Monday, May 1, during an alleged shoot-out on Denver Crescent, Maverley.
Reports are that McLeod who was picked up by the police earlier this month and released from custody last week, was murdered in what is suspected to be a reprisal killing. The teenager was one of four persons killed violently in separate incidents yesterday.
HOSPITALISED
In Clarendon, a deacon 57-year-old Winston Morgan, was shot and killed by gunmen and his pastor Evelyn Wilson, 53, hospitalised in critical condition. The incident occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m., along the Coast Road, in Alligator Pond.
Morgan and Wilson both of the Good News Relief Centre, a church in Alligator Pond, were reported to be less than five minutes away from the church when they met in a minor accident.
Mr. Morgan told the occupants of the other vehicle that he was going to report the accident to the police. But this reportedly angered the men who immediately turned their guns on the deacon and the pastor.
In another incident, Andre Maddon, 18, of Lilliput, St. James, was stabbed and killed, during a fight at a nightclub in Long Bay. His 21-year-old brother, who was also injured in the incident, has since been admitted to hospital in serious condition.
The fourth person was shot and killed by a licensed firearm holder. Reports are that the deceased was shot while caught breaking into the licensed firearm holder's home in Drax Hall, St. Ann.
Allegations are that the deceased, 45-year-old Ashley Hylton of Windsor in the parish, attacked the firearm holder with a machete and was shot. The police said about 3:30 a.m., an occupant of the house was awakened by strange sounds coming from a section of the building.
Upon investigation, a man armed with a machete was seen in the house. The man reportedly attacked the occupant who is a licensed firearm holder. The occupant then opened fire at the burglar and he ran from the house. The police were summoned and during a search of the area the man was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
