Top seeds advance comfortably
published: Thursday | June 1, 2006

THE TOURNAMENT'S top seeds all had relatively comfortable victories as action in the Llockett McGregor Amateur Tennis Championships continued on Tuesday night at the Liguanea Club courts.

After receiving a bye into the second round, men's class one top gun Dwayne Pagon had no problems dispatching Nick Wates 6-0, 6-2. Tyler Chin, who led in the tournament in it's earlier stages last year, also advanced in fairly comfortable fashion, beating Htut Hteik in straight sets 6-2, 6-4, while Yussuf Migoko got by Carlo Petinato 6-2, 6-1.

In men's Class 2 action, Howard Powell advanced to the third round when he got the better of Brandt Fulller 6-2, 6-2, Mark Edwards had a tougher time with Steven Shirley, but eventually got the better of him in a 7-6, 6-4 victory.

Men's Class 3 play saw Richard Harris turn back Norman Marshall 7-5, 6-4 and Franklyn Grenion getting by Robert Barber 6-0, 6-3. In the men's Class 4 category, Jack Scorpio beat Andrez Coy 6-4, 6-4 and Warrenton Dixon stopped Alvin Wint 6-2, 6-3.

This first tournament in the Trafalgar Travel Series does not have a women's open category due to a lack of entries. Winners of the various classes compete over five tournaments for a chance to attend the 2007 Nasdaq Open.
