Porus a win
away from semis
With three places sewn up in the Captain's Bakery Manchester Major League, interest will mostly centre around who will cop the last semi-final spot in this weekend's close of the preliminary round.
The two games involving the main contenders are slated for the same time tomorrow as the local association attempts to guard against unfair juggling.
Neighbours Porus and Harmons Valley are caught in that jostle and will decide their own fate with victories. The two are locked on 17 points, with Porus having a +1 goal advantage and Harmons, a minus one difference.
Porus, who are coming off a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the already qualified Downs, appear to have the easier task travelling to Hanbury to face Mandeville United who bowed out of contention with a 2-0 loss to Harmons last weekend.
Harmons have the game of their lives a mission to convincingly defeat the competition's most consistent team, Hillstars.
Hillstars, the mid-season winners who racked up eight straight wins before two inconsequential losses to Mandeville United and Porus FC, reaffirmed their favourites tag by defeating second-placed New Green 2-0 last Sunday. It was an important statement ahead of the semi-finals.
