BLUE - NEW ACCESSORY SHOP IN TOWN - For fingers, necks and toes
published: Monday | June 5, 2006

Get in the pink with a ring for all occasions

THREE WOMEN, Rosa Joseph, Malaika Wint and Terry Srour have joined creative forces to create a partnership in Jamaica's newest accessory shop, called Blue.

Yes, Blue, the Spanish equivalent of that calming colour and the title of Rosa Joseph's favourite song from her homeland, the Dominican Republic.

Blue had its official opening on Saturday, June 3, but Flair got a preview last Wednesday at the shop's soft opening. Located at 1 Grosvenor Terrace, next to the Grosvenor Gallery, in Manor Park, the shop is the first such completely stocked one in the area.

Businesswoman, Ms. Joseph, told Flair she had always loved costume jewellery, so setting up the store was not like doing work at all.

"Plus, I want people to know they can have beautiful jewellery without spending a lot of money. These are pieces for the moment, not for a lifetime," she said.

The inventory, which is tastefully arranged in a colour co-ordiated display includes: necklaces, pendants, earrings, hair ornaments, rings for fingers, navel and toes, scarves, evening and casual bags, exquisite jewel boxes and shawls. Brooches will be added to the inventory soon.

Ms. Joseph and Ms. Wint showed us sterling silver pieces, larimar from the Dominican Republic, metal cuffs for arms and wrists, red coral, turquoise, amber, Austrian and Swarovski crystal and other pieces fashioned from semi-precious stones. And, they are affordable too, starting from $125.00 plus GCT and going up to $4,000.00 plus GCT. Sets are abundant but there are individual items too.

"We have combined our three individual tastes and joined forces to please the customers. Jamaican women are very fashionable, but we will also cater to men in the future. You can shop in peace and parking is more than adequate and the feel is Bohemian," Ms. Joseph added.

Blue is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and can be reached by calling 755-BLUE.
