Elim top Milo Kindergarten/Basic school champs
published: Monday | June 5, 2006

ELIM ARE the 2006 Milo Inter-Kindergarten and Basic School track and field champions after scoring 136 points to defeat Quest Prep (130.5 points) at Constant Spring recently.

The Red Hills Road-based school secured victory over Quest, which seemed set to record their first win in the 11-year-old championships after leading for most of the final day.

Dethroned champions Apex Prep ended in fifth position on 110 points.

Last year's second place finisher, Alpha, dropped one place to third this year with 128 points. Mount Alvernia Prep out of Montego Bay ended the competition in fourth position with 124 points.

Twenty-four schools and over 900 athletes took part in the two-day meet and competed in flat races and relays in Classes 1, 2, and 3 involving competitors aged five, four, and three respectively.

The competition, which began 11 years ago with just five schools, has now expanded to the current 24 drawn from the parishes of Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Catherine and St. James.

This is Milo's sixth year of sponsorship of the championships. It amounted to $800,000.
