Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki promised yesterday to push forward with his efforts to curb rampant sectarian and militia violence in the country after a series of brazen attacks, including the kidnappings of 50 people in broad daylight in Baghdad.
Al-Maliki also said his government was asking the United States military about two incidents that involved the killing of civilians, a Nov. 19 alleged massacre at Haditha and deaths of about a dozen people in the town of Ishaqi last March.
