THE EDITOR, Sir:
WORKERS AT the Electoral Office in Portmore Pines seem really to be a bunch of 'don't care' people. They ask people to carry in voters' IDs and our utility bills to help in the reverification process.
Two persons I know complied and took the documents with them. I did not, since I was told to carry in my voter's ID only. Our pictures were taken and also there was a form that we had to complete giving information about where we live, names and direction, etc. Last week the names of those who were not verified were published in in The Gleaner. I was frightened to learn that my name and those of two other persons I know were on that list.
They later told us that they would have sent someone around and to date nobody has been around our house. When I called I was told that the area was already completed. So I called back and explained the situation and I was told to bring in my utility bill and ID to rectify the matter. Knowing that I was there before, I find it difficult to go back there again. Why not send someone to verify where I live? I am so fed up, it's not funny.
Question to you, Mr. Danville Walker: Am I going to get
the chance to vote in the next election?
I am, etc.,
