THE EDITOR, Sir:
I RECENTLY had the pleasure of speaking with one of the graduates of the National Youth Service Cobbla training camps and was thrilled by the excitement and enthusiasm she displayed.
After listening to her describe the experience I got the impression that the positive impact it had was not an isolated case and this gave me some hope for the future of our young people. It also brought into sharp focus the awareness of the need for all our youth, especially those who have just graduated from the school system to be exposed to a similar experience.
I would like to suggest that the Prime Minister consider putting the funds from NIS or NHT that are being considered for other purposes into expanding this programme instead. I am certain if you were to visit the facilities and speak to the participants you will recognise this as the better investment for the nation.
I hail the programme as worthwhile and praise the staff at the Cobbla facility who are doing a fantastic job. Please keep up the good work.
I am, etc.,
HOWARD BROOKS
