Washington Gardens is no garrison
published: Friday | June 9, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I STRONGLY believe that the map that was published with the article entitled 'Garrison, the root of crime' (Sunday May 26, 2006) is misleading, in that it labelled the Washington Gardens community as a garrison community.

I have been living in the Washington Gardens area for five years and based on the information that I have received up to this point, nothing has indicated that the community is considered a garrison community.

What we need to consider is how many cases of reported crimes occur in this area each year, and to what extent can this community be considered to be volatile, and is the community divided.

Looking at these factors, can we truly say that the Washington Gardens community is a garrison community?

I am, etc.,

MEL ROBINSON

Kingston.
