Form a line, yes, but ...

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I NOTE with interest an article in The Gleaner of June 21 heralding the 'Form a line' project. It is so unfortunate that the people who are instituting the various rules and regulations are people who do not use the subject services.
When I go to a bank to do business, I stand behind the last person in the line. When I go to the Portmore bus stop on Pechon Street or in Half-Way Tree, I stand among a group of people some of whom were there before me and some of whom reached after me. When my bus arrives, the more aggressive and fleet- footed persons will run to reach the bus door first and will be at the front of the line even though they reached the bus stop only seconds before the bus, while the less aggressive and slower commuters, including the infirm and elderly will naturally be at the back of the line, even though they could have been waiting for an hour before the arrival of the bus.
I am all for law and order, but until there is a situation where, like the bank, there are restricting ropes leading to the bus door and there is a system where at the bus stop, each person stands behind the last person in the line until the bus arrives, project Form a Line Phase 2 will peter out just like project Form a Line Phase 1. This project in its present format is totally untenable. I know because I take the bus morning, noon and night.
I am, etc.,
