Expatriate critics are not malicious

THE EDITOR, Sir:IN YOUR Friday, June 9 edition, the writer of the letter 'Frankly we don't need you' should really question whether she really believes what she has written. Has she been to the foreign embassies to see how many "satisfied" Jamaicans are seeking an exodus? Has she seen or realise how we, the long-suffering have got to be spending our last dollar to 'imprison' ourselves from the free criminals?
Not until we can accept that crime and corruption are deeply imbedded in all layers of our society, and that we need to implement drastic measures to remove such a scourge that we can begin to heed criticisms from the Jamaican diaspora. What we should begin to understand is that criticisms are not being made maliciously, but are being highlighted by Jamaicans who would dearly like to return home to assist in building a better Jamaica, but are being turned off by the present environment.
So you see Joy, frankly, we do need them.
I am, etc.,
