Jazil wins Belmont Stakes

JAZIL CAME roaring around the final turn and cruised to victory in the US$1 million (euro 790,640) Belmont Stakes yesterday, taking the final leg of the Triple Crown against a lacklustre field missing the Kentucky Derby and Preak-ness winners. Without Derby winner Barbaro and Preakness winner Bernardini, the Belmont was missing its usual appeal, but Jazil had the crowd at Belmont Park roaring when he held off Bluegrass Cat at the finish.
