TODAY, MANY website owners are not limiting themselves to using their Internet vehicle to attract product interest but also to directly generate revenue. U.S-based company Google offers revenue-generating advertising on websites via its advertising programme, Google AdSense.
This is a simple and no-cost way of setting up advertising on your website while displaying text and image ads that relate to the content of your site. But how does AdSense pick up the contents of your website to deliver related ads? With Google constantly upgrading their programmes, AdSense uses words on your site to develop more targeted ads depending on the context in which they are used. These ads are of Google advertisers ranging from large global brands to small and local companies.
The ads are also targeted by geography, so businesses can display local advertising with no additional effort and can be displayed in many languages.
To become an AdSense publisher is really simple. There is an online application that has to be filled out and once you are approved you just need to copy and paste one block of HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) in your website codes and you are on your way to earning money.
MAKING MONEY FROM THESE ADS
So how does one make money from these ads? Google puts relevant CPC (cost-per-click) and CPM (cost per thousand impressions) ads through an auction, and lets them compete against one another instantaneously. AdSense will then automatically display the text or image ad(s) that will generate the maximum revenue for a page and ultimately, the maximum revenue for you.
Google also facilitates the addition of a search box to your site. AdSense delivers relevant text ads that are targeted to the Google search results pages generated by the search request of your visitors.
By placing a Google search box on your site, you can start monetising the results from web searches. Not only does this keep your users on your website longer since they can search from where they are, but it takes just minutes to implement. And you pay nothing to participate.
So to get more out of your website, add Google AdSense to your HTML codes, sit back and watch the clicks climb.
