THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM a Jamaican living abroad and an ex-member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, which I served diligently for six years. It is not easy being a policeman/ woman and I am one of those people with great admiration for SSP Adams and the Commissioner of Police.
In my view, Dr. Gomes needs to keep quiet about police matters and concentrate on the task given to her for which she is not even doing a good job. Unless you have experience having the life of a family member/loved one snuffed out by criminals and unless you know the hardship a policeman/woman faces in his/her day to day job, then you cannot appreciate the wonders he/she does. This is not to say there aren't a few bad eggs in the force, but Dr. Gomes needs to give the police a chance and some space to work.
SSP Adams, the people of Jamaica welcome you back into the Jamaica Constabulary Force and I am sure that with God's blessing and the help of the Commissioner of Police and members of the force, you will continue to do a great job. Keep up the good work, JCF.
I am, etc.,
