ALLEN
GARY ALLEN has been promoted to the post of Deputy Managing Director of the RJR Communications Group with immediate effect.
With revenues of $1.1 billion for the year ended March 31, 2005, the RJR mass communications giant operates commercial radio stations, a television station and multi-media company.
Before his promotion, Mr. Allen served as director of operations at the media group.
Allen worked previously as a freelance reporter at the Gleaner Company Limited in 1985. Two years later he went to RJR as a broadcast journalist. Allen also worked at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as a news correspondent from 1991 to 1993 before he went to CVM Television as manager for news, sports and current affairs.
In 1996 he left the island to work with the Caribbean Broadcasting Union in Barbados as programme operations manager, returning to RJR in 2000. Mr. Allen is a vice-president of the Media Association of Jamaica.
