Well done, Kingfish!
published: Friday | June 16, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I READ and re-read with great interest an article posted in The Gleaner of June 14, by Staff Reporter Ashford Meikle. Just to be clear on my interpretation of what was written, I am moved to pose the following question - Is one of Jamaica's flagship corporate entities proclaiming to have knowingly benefitted from the proceeds of the illicit drug trade?

In many other jurisdictions against which we constantly measure ourselves, such proclamations would have invited the relevant state agencies to pursue appropriate investigations. The angels of civil society would have demanded retractions, apologies and or clarifications.

At least one thing is made patently clear in the article - no matter how you slice it or dice it crime is down in Jamaica.

Well done, Kingfish! It seems a new corporate strategy is needed for some of our companies.

I am, etc.,
