Christopher Marsh advances to quarter-finals
published: Sunday | June 18, 2006

THE JAMAICAN players at the Caribbean Table Tennis Championships being played in Puerto Rico continue to have one of their most successful efforts with the latest being Christopher Marsh reaching the quarter-finals in the men's singles.

Marsh achieved this by knocking out the number one seed, Khaleel Asgarali of Trinidad and Tobago, 4-2 in a match in which he unleashed some blistering forehand drives.

QUARTER FINALS

His opponent in the quarter-finals will be former Caribbean singles champion Trevor Farley of Barbados. Earlier, Marsh, along with Nigel Webb and Joseph Dibbs, topped their respective groups to advance to the round of 16, with Peter Moo Young failing to advance from his group. Webb and Dibbs were stopped in the round of 16.

In the women's single, Yvonne Foster was unable to advance from her group and will now play in the Under-21 event.
